Connor Hertz has been training at Frequency Martial Arts since October 19, 2019. During that year, he has been training with the adults, but he has also been helping the coaches with the youth class.
A few months back, he wanted to know what our policy was on open mat training to raise money for organizations, like we had done in the past. Due to COVID-19, we are not able to allow cross training or open our doors to members from other martial arts schools as a way to help limit the spread of COVID-19.
That got me thinking and while we could hold a small "In-House" training session, I asked him to come up with an idea for a logo that we can put on a t-shirt or hoodie that we can sell to raise money for the charity of his choice. Connor went to work on some ideas and we finally narrowed it down to this design, that will help Connor raise money for the Children's Hospital of Illinois; specifically, their Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Connor will be turning 15 on October 24, 2020 and while he may only have one-year on the mats, he's been a fighter his entire life.
You see, Connor was born at Children's Hospital of Illinois at 29-weeks (11-weeks early) and weighed 2 pounds 14 ounces. He spent 34-days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Children's Hospital of Illinois.
Connor has designed the logo that is featured on this limited-edition T-Shirt and Hoodie. 100% of the net-proceeds will be donated to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Children's Hospital of Illinois.
